A blast from the past!
Mid July 2026
My wife out in the bush with me for the first time in about 4 year or 5 years.
For many years my wife put up with my love of wandering in the bush and came along. In the end she decided to do things she preferred more and I do not blame her for that.

So my journey of time in the bush alone started and with the arrival of my motorbike Himi in late 2024 the places I could visit increased greatly.

I give Himi a hard life and recently those taillights that shine so brightly in the morning fog in the photo above failed. I still had indicator and brake lights but the night lights were broken.
Halls Falls, Herberton, December 2025.
With the motorbike out of action I thought of a place I had discovered on the bike that I could share with my wife in the car. I asked her if she would join me on a trip to Halls Falls and she said “yes” :)
The Cathedral Fig, Lake Tinaroo, Atherton. Mid July 2026.
We made out way in the car to Halls Falls via the back of Lake Tinaroo. On the way we stopped at the 50 metre tall Cathedral Fig Tree and my wife took this great photo. The top canopy of the tree is the size of two Olympic size pools.

Once again this is a photo my wife took. I love how she sees compositions I would never. I think she was having fun and it was great to spend the day with her roaming like we used to.

Hopefully in the above photo I took the birds give you some idea of the volume and scale of that water. We spent a lovely half hour at the base of the dam before heading over to Hall Falls.

We had terrible harsh light when we arrived at Halls Falls and the day was about visiting with my wife not photos so I did not force her to wait for good light as I have done many times in the past. I climbed to the top to check out the top of the falls for the first time and then we headed off home
Murray Falls, May 2019.
When I am out and about with my wife things tend to happen. Back in 2019 when I visited Murray Falls with her we had Cassowary join us and I got some great photos. On this day with my wife in the car we had one stop in the middle of the road at the top of Gillies Range.
Hard for her to get a clear photo using her mobile through a windscreen near dark but she did her best. That bird below must have stopped right in front of us for a good 3 minutes.
