Marking life with jewellery

24th February 2026 - Customer Locations: Cairns, Brisbane, Cooktown &Adelaide

Today I am going to share with you some pieces that I have created recently that mark times and people in my customers lives. It is this sort of symbolism in the jewellery that makes them so valuable to the wearer, regardless of the material value or even the aesthetic.

The growing family

I have made this Cairns couples engagement ring and then their wedding rings 8-9 years ago. Recently they asked me to make the above pendant to celebrate their growing family. The pendant was was made in Palladium Sterling Silver with rose and yellow gold quadrants.

The gemstones of Emerald, Sapphire, Garnet and Peridot and are the birthstones of each family member. When child number 3 arrives we will more than likely add their birthstone to the bail.

A welcome to the family

These earrings were made for a Brisbane customer using diamonds from a piece of jewellery owned by the young man’s Mother. He gave them to his fiancee when he proposed. The setting was created in 18ct yellow gold and features my heavy hand made butterfies.

Remembering a Mother

These earring were made for a Cooktown customer using materials from old jewellery left to her by her late Mother. It does not matter if the materials are not valuable, to her they are priceless. Once again for the earrings I handmade heavy butterflies to securely fit them to the ear.

Remembering a Father

The Bushido Cross is worn by ZenDo Kai and Bushi Kai karate members as a sign of excellence. I have made hundreds of these over the year but am currently making a very special and unique one for a karateka in Adelaide.

For the bail section of the pendant gold from his late Father’s wedding ring will be used. it is such an honour to be trusted with memories and irreplaceable materials to create pieces of jewellery that mean so much to the wearer.

Have a great week.
