Hammered with a fingerprint please :)

14ct yellow gold hammered wedding ring.

I have made the hammered wedding ring quite a few times now. To make this ring the base ring shape is formed and them hammered to apply the pattern. As you apply that hammered pattern the ring stretches so I need to estimate the smaller starting point correctly to achieve the desired finger size.

As you hammer the outside of a ring anything on the inside, like engraving, is usually damaged. This is where the increase in difficulty came with this customers request.

Partners fingerprint engraved inside the ring.

This customer desired a finger print of his partner on the inside of the ring. In the past I have applied finger prints to the outside of a ring but never the inside. (as far as I can recall)

Normally detailed internal engraving like this would be done to a flat piece of metal before it was formed up into a ring. The problem I had to solve was how could I apply the hammered pattern without damaging the finger print. As you can see I figured it out :)

18ct palladium white gold diamond set chevron wedder.

His partners rings was a bit more straight forward to make once we sorted out the correct diamond size. The chevron design is quite popular at the moment and this one will be worn next to the ring in the article below which I created earlier this year. The planning for this ring was done at the time we made the engagement ring.
