The finishing touch

May 24th 2013

Today I will share with you a simple earring design and the little feature that made it a special gift.

A customer came to me wanting to make a pair of earrings to give to a friend as a 30th birthday present. The design was to match a bangle that was already special to the intended recipient.

My customer wanted the shape of the bangle to be the basis of the design for the earrings. The earrings were to be made in white gold.

That left us with deciding on a size for the earrings.  I created some photos scaling the intended design to an ear to enable that decision to be made.

Three centimetres was the decided length with the fittings to be shepherds hooks. The earrings were then made with the final touch being the engraving of a personal message onto the back.
