She didn`t even have to come in!

April 2nd 2012

With a photo of the desired design and some details of the diamonds to be used I was able to create this pendant for a customer without them ever having to come into see me.

Many of my customers are repeat ones. Once they understand how my system of digital designs and drafts works they come back the second time less intimidated at the prospect of creating a piece of jewellery from an idea. Paula is one such customer who I have had the pleasure of making jewellery for quite a few times now, despite her having never lived in Cairns.

Now living in Western Australia, Paula recently sent me an email asking if I could do something with a design she had a photo of. She also wanted to see what it would look like after adding a swinging heart to the base of it.

Paula already had the diamonds so the first thing I did was get her to send me some photos from which I could then scale up the design to reflect how it would look using her diamonds.

             Scaled to her diamond size.

The design scaled very well to the size of her diamonds. Next I digitally added in a heart before emailing Paula the image for her comments. The first time I made jewellery for Paula we went through many digital images before deciding on the final design. This time she liked the very first draft.

Now with the design decided on I submitted a quote which was approved. She sent the diamonds to me and not too long after that I started making the pendant. One thing that we did have to change from the approved graphic was to lengthen the part of the pendant that the chain runs through to accommodate a heavier chain than that shown. Other than that all went to plan and the pendant was soon made in 9ct white gold using her white and pink diamonds. The finished pendant which is pictured below was then sent to her in Western Australia fully insured.
