This is an ideal gift for someone wanting to give an overseas friend a piece of Australia. The sterling silver fitting passes through a hole drilled into the Queensland Boulder Opal giving the appearance that the frog is sitting on the opal.
The section at the top for a chain/leather etc to pass through is quite large and should take most sizes.
I have rhodium plated the silver to stop the frog from tarnishing. The opal is a solid natural gem.
During my past life as a wholesale manufacturing jeweller I set up designs like this for opal sellers, only for them to take the manufacturing overseas :( I am guessing I made this pendant about 20 years or more ago and it has been sitting in the safe.
