Thought I would share some images sitting on my computer taken at short stops during my travels. The first are from a quick stop at Tull Gorge on a trip to Townsville.

it was a pretty overcast day with the occasional drop of rain. I used to visit this spot quite often with my wife and just sit and enjoy the heavy flow of water that has always been on visits to Tully Gorge.

Shortly after I took this photo the rafting company came down the river with their screaming tourists and paddled under these two little waterfalls. It was time for me to leave.
Serendipity Falls

I have been visiting Serendipity Falls for many years now and every visit the falls appear different. On the visit I took the above photo the water was flowing strongly over the falls.

Fast forward to a recent visit in late August 2026 and the falls were much more sedate. Thank fully there was also not the normal large amount of rubbish present there.

The falls are right on the side of the Palmerston Highway and if you blink you miss it. The falls are literally metres from the highway. I have taken the above photo from the base of the waterfall and the white van is travelling down the highway.
Kauri Creek Road

Kauri Creek Road has been the go to location for me to address my fear of riding on slippery red clay tracks since they blocked off the adjoining Mt Edith Rd due to it being too dangerous….to cars I assume. I usually at the lovely waterfall shown above that is on the side of the track about half way in.

This year the rain does not want to stop so I am getting lots of practise. Unless the rain is torrential I can now safely ride along Kauri Creek Rd from Danbulla Road to Tinaroo Creek Road. If worst came to worst it is short enough that I can leave the bike and walk back out onto Danbulla Rd to get help.
Next week I have a week off so plan to explore some paces a bit further away. I hope I do not get too much rain next week!
