Sand for the sore foot
I hurt my foot recently and have been unable to wear shoes. That has meant that I have been walking around like a bit of a weirdo in slippers everywhere. Unable to hit the bush in slippers I have been heading to Ellis beach to roam barefoot.
I usually arrive late afternoon and sometimes greeted with nice weather and sometimes not. I just like being outdoors so I do not really care.
Ellis beach is home to quite a few Eastern Reef Egrets. They are shy but if you move slowly and are willing to sit and wait they will become comfortable with your presence and start to hunt for food.
They search for food wading in the water or looking down from the rock edges diving down to catch their prey.
I was lucky on this day to catch one of the birds right at the moment he was preparing to eat his catch.
Clouds rolling over the range.
Sunsets are what I am there for and part of the waiting process is keeping an eye on what is happening up the Range on the Tablelands. On this day the clouds were rolling over as the sun was starting to drop.
As I wander along the beach waiting for sunset there is always something interesting to view. Either an old tree log or shells on the rocks.
I even find the different colours in the rocks interesting. So many different forms and patterns all in the one location.
Recently at this location there have been Crested Terns out to sea diving into the ocean to catch fish and then flying back to the shore for breaks. Close to the shore Turtles break the surface as they come up for air.
A long way out to sea part of this cargo ship is hidden below the horizon. That light hitting the ship and the red tint in the clouds above can only mean one thing, sunset is approaching.
Looking back up to the Tablelands the Range top is falling into darkness. Those clouds might lead to an interesting sunset.
By the time the sun had set the clouds had moved away from the range and bounced some of the suns colour down onto the beach. Lovely end to the day.
