Cairns Golf Course during Covid
During Covid lockdown under the restrictions we were stilled allowed to walk nearby home for exercise. Like many other couples we made it a habit for going for a daily walk in Cairns Golf course.
With golf at the time not being allowed the course was closed so we could walk the fairways at our leisure.
The golf course is home to many Bush Stone-culrew. You will see them scurrying around the base of the trees and every now and then take to flight.
Like everywhere else in the Cairns region you will also run into the Masked Lapwing Plover. A quite noisy bird that is very defensive of its nest during breeding season.
Whilst walking the course we often found ourselves being watched by Kookaburras. This one let us get very close but kept a regular eye on us.
Most of our walks in the Golf course were late afternoon but I know the course was also popular with early morning walkers.
Sun rising over the driving range
I usually see the golf course in the morning as I drive past to go to work. Often the sunrises are spectacular.
My wife enjoys viewing the assorted plant life around the golf course. But she is not the only admirer of the plant life there.
Much fo the birdlife feed on those trees. These Imperial Doves seemed to love the Palm Tree seeds.
Now with Covid restrictions eased I am more likely to be walking in the golf course well after sunset. I still find it a wonderful place to be when the city lights and moon providing night light.
