Mobo Creek Crater - Danbulla National Park
30th January 2021
Mobo Creek in full flow, March 2019.
On my first visit there had been a lot of rain and the water was running quite fast and high. This is the view of the water as you stand on the path in from the carpark. The walk in is about 300 metres.
The pathway to the creek.
The path to the Creek is very good and one that most people could handle. The first half of the circuit t is a fairly flat walk. You are in forrest for the whole walk so it is nice and shaded all day.
The path across the Creek, January 2021.
Half way is the creek and when the water is not flowing too high you can walk straight over to complete the circuit back to the carpark..
Thepath across the creek, March 2019
Back in 2019 when I visited the water was flowing strongly and with the rocks being very slippery I was not going to try to cross it. Even if the water is down….. if you are not into rougher and steeper walks, go back the same way you came.
The Crater, January 2021.
Once the water flows over/under the path it enters the crater which looks very deep and mirky. I certainly would not swim in it.
My wife looking into the crater for a Platypus. No luck.
In the bottom left corner of the photo above you can just see the path which gives you an idea of how close the Crater is.
A view on the second half of the loop track.
If you do decide to cross the creek the track is a bit rougher and steeper on the other side. You are rewarded with some nice views however.
Convoy of caterpillars, May 2020.
As I mentioned we have never seen platypus there but we have seen a very interesting convoy of caterpillars which at first my wife thought was a snake.
