Designing around pre-existing gems is the hardest type of design. When you are also instructed that nothing more can be added and all have to used then the task becomes even more difficult. At times I feel like running away form this type of job.

Rather than saving money you can add a large amount of design time cost. Often a lot of time gets out into design only to prove that what is desired is not possible to make with the existing materials.

That said this ring is one of those that turned out as good as I could have hoped. I have since made 2 more rings for this customer.
