A decision 5 years in the making.
2nd June 2025
Back in 2020 I made the above ring for a surprise proposal. As part of my “Proposal Ring” process the ring was to be remade after the proposal to the correct size and with any design changes the recipient desired.
The remaking, just so long as there are no major changes in materials or complexity, is done free of charge. The process allows for the surprise proposal and avoids the recipient having to wear a resized ring (if needed) as their engagement ring.
The customer has continued to wear the temporary Proposal Ring for 5 years. During those 5 years I have made her wedding ring and she has had two children. A couple of months ago she contacted me to have her Proposal Ring remade with the setting lower.
Existing height on the left and desired new height on the right.
To determine the new height off the finger of the remade ring, I digitally modified the design until the customer was happy with the above look.
A quick snap of the remade ring on my workbench taken with my phone.
The customer continued to wear the proposal ring whilst I made her true engagement ring with the desired changes to her perfect finger size.
Once the ring was ready we arranged a day for her to drop the proposal ring off so I could swap the diamond over. She was without her ring for one day. Took us 5 years but we got there and it did not cost her an extra cent :)
Where you been for the past few months David?
Vyvonne Beach, Kangaroo Island, South Australia.
For 30 days I travelled from Cairns down to Kangaroo Island and back. Before I left I was quite busy tidying jobs up and since back busy trying to catch up.
Swincer Rocks, Yorke Peninsula, South Australia.
As well as Kangaroo Island I spent quite a bit of time on the Yorke Peninsula where I discovered a wonderful place called Butler’s Beach. It was the highlight of the trip.
Flinders Ranges, South Australia.
On my way back to Cairns I travelled through the Flinders Ranges. The light was terrible for photos there but I had a great time. I travelled over 10000klms during the 30 days on my motorbike “Himi” and lived in a tent. I had a wonderful time and if you want to read more about the trip you can do so in the ‘My World” blog section of the website. Have a great week.
Camping in the bush somewhere between Bourke and Broken Hill.
