One of the first Engagements for 2021

13th February 2021 - Customer Location: New South Wales

I came back to work mid January this year and 2021 has started with a large amount of weddings as people get around to weddings that were postponed in 2020. That said I have been commissioned to make quite a few engagement rings already in 2021 and the ring above is one of the first.

it is heading to a NSW customer and we have done all the design and diamond selection remotely with a bit of help from the customers parents here in Cairns. There is not always a Cairns connection for my out of town customers but often there is.

The proposal ring has been created in 18ct Palladium white gold but will be remade after the proposal in 950 Platinum after some discussion with the couple together on finer design details and also planning for the wedding ring.

Planning for the wedding ring before we remake the Proposal ring will help avoid issues with a matching wedding ring later down the road. We can make changes now to the engagement ring design that might not be possible later.

I have made very similar to this design before but this is the first time that I have been asked to add mill grain edging to the band.

Dragonfly at Tarzali Lakes.

From my beautiful part of the world this week a photo I took of a dragonfly at Tarzali Lakes last weekend. Tarzali Lakes is a privately own area that is famous for Platypus viewing. When we visited we did know that the Platypus were nesting and not visible but we wanted to have a look anyway.

Article: Anticipating a good day

The food and coffee were both excellent and we had a wonderful time just sitting by the lake on our own and watching the insects and birdlife. Lovely spot and the staff were very helpful and knowledgable.

There is a small fee (under $10 IIRC) to go down to the Lakes but you do not have to pay that fee if you just want to eat there or have a coffee. Pretty sure they did not even charge us to go down to the Lake that day.
