Something a bit Gothic and upside down
12th December 2020 - Customer Location: Cairns
Years ago now I saw for the first time gems set upside down. I have set gems like this for customers since then but not recently. This ring was created in 18ct palladium white gold and features 4 brilliant cut round black diamonds…..set upside down.
A rose cut Australian Sapphire from 2019.
There is indeed a special cut for gems to be displayed this way called a Rose cut and I created a ring using a gem I had custom cut back in 2019. You will notice that the facets are much more appealing than a brilliant cut gem simply set upside down.
The recesses of this ring are oxidised to give it even more of a dated Gothic feel. I really like the beading on this design. I have 3 more jobs to do and then I have caught up for Christmas. Only three jobs but they are quite big ones.
Silver Falls
The snapshot of the beautiful place I live today is from the walk to Nandroya Falls. Nandroya has been photographed to death so I thought I would photograph Silver Falls which is on the walk to Nandroya.
I took this photo back in June 2020 and you can see some other photos of Silver Falls here that I took on another visit there with my wife. Have a great weekend and back to work for me.
