Australian Raven — David Taylor - Master Jeweller

I spotted these two birds as I drove past a farm gate. Or should I say that they spotted me. The one in the front with the white eyes and wonky left foot is an adult. The other bird with the brownish eyes a juvenile.

Juvenile bird, Irvinebank, late October 2026.

Even younger Australian Ravens have a pinkish colour bare patch of skin beneath their beak. Adult birds also have this bare patch but it is black and hard to see.

I cannot make out what they are eating but normally these birds are scavengers that eat carrion, insects and grain.
