Ellis Beach

27th June 2019

North of Ellis beach looking to Port Douglas. Light trails to the left from cars on the Port Douglas road.

I went to the beach on the day I took the photo above hoping to photograph some of the birds that I regularly see but none were present. I had almost given up on getting any photos but decided to wait for sunset and the afterburn. Glad I did.

It has been a little while since I have been back to my favourite spot near Ellis Beach. The flowing water you see in some of the photos below from the big wet earlier in 2019 is all gone now.

Wangal Djungay (Double Island) off Palm Cove is visible in many of the photos I take from north of Ellis Beach. You can read about Wangal Djungay in Yirrganydji cultural history here.
